02 The requirement most people discover late

You cannot register a product into Nigeria from outside it.

Every foreign manufacturer that wants a product on the Nigerian market must appoint a local agent or legal representative. That party is the one NAFDAC actually deals with: they file the submission, receive the queries, and are accountable for the product's regulatory standing in-country.

It is not a formality you can satisfy with a mailing address. Choose the wrong representative and you inherit their backlog, their relationships and their mistakes — and moving a registration afterwards is considerably harder than placing it correctly the first time.

What this means for you If you are reading this from outside Nigeria, appointing your representative is not step four of your market-entry plan. It is step one, and everything else waits on it.

How long does NAFDAC registration take?

It depends on the product category, how complete your existing documentation is, and how quickly queries get answered — and anyone who gives you a single number before seeing your file is guessing. We give you a realistic range at the scoping stage, and we tell you which parts of the timeline are ours and which are yours.

Do I need a Nigerian company to register a product?

You do not need to incorporate in Nigeria, but you do need a Nigerian agent or legal representative to hold the regulatory relationship. That is the role we perform for manufacturers based outside the country.

What does it cost?

NAFDAC's own fees are set by the agency and vary by product category. Our fee is quoted per product after the scoping review, in writing, so you know the full number before work starts rather than discovering it in instalments.

Can you handle storage and distribution as well as registration?

Yes — that is the point of the way we are set up. Registration, temperature-controlled storage, customs clearing and onward distribution sit with one team, so nobody is waiting on a handover between vendors.
